Til Bugga Recipe – Makar Sankranti Special

Til bugga recipe is a popular sweet dish made during Makar Sankranti in India. Learn how to make this delicious sweet using this quick and easy recipe.

  • 250 gm Kale til (Black sesame seeds)
  • 200 gm Khoya (mawa)
  • 80 gm Bura
  • 50 gm Raisins
  • 1/2 tsp Green Cardamom Powder


  • Dry roast sesame seeds until you get the aroma. It will take maximum 5 minutes on low flame.
  • Once done take out in a separate plate and let these cool down.
  • Roast khoya on low flame until it turns light brown in colour.
  • Once done, let it cool down.
  • Now in a mixer jar, add sesame seeds, bura, and cardamom powder and grind it to a coarse powder.
  • Add this powder to roasted khoya and mix well. Add Raisins or your choice of the nut at this stage.
  • Divide the mixture into small equal portions and make laddoo of it.
  • I got 24 laddoos out of this quantity but the count totally depends upon the portion size.
  • Our til bhugga is ready to serve.


  1. For this recipe, I have used black sesame seeds because of their nutritional value and flavor. However, you may feel free to use white or brown sesame seeds. The recipe will remain the same.
  2. I have used Bura as its unrefined form of sugar but you can use regular white sugar as well in the same amount.
  3. These laddoos stay good for up to a month at room temperature.
